This is realy strange lol my name is Steven Bradbury and i am in the city finals for ice skating.

Sarah Ann Bradbury married Luman Irskine Wakeman in 1852 in Pen Yann Yates Co NY, Whilst this marriage is documented in the Wakeman Genealogy, along with their offspring, David Wakeman born 1853, I have not been able to find Sarah in the 1860 census, nor son David. Luman abandoned them and moved west. He never denied David's existence but did loose track of him. Recently someone posted a family tree on Ancestry-dot-com that states Sarah died in 1859, and gave a date for David's death as 1945, a date I have have in an old family notebook and have never seen elsewhere. I have not been able to find David in any census 1860 thru 1930, nor do I know where he died. Can anyone document who Sarah was (I cannot identify her in the 1850 census), when/where she died, and what happened to David?

I am recently married into the Bradbury family. My husband (Matthew Bradbury) is from Halifax Nova Scotia. His parents (John and Debbra-Lynn)are from St. Johns NFLD. I do know his grandfather was Samuel Bradbury. I am a little unsure of his background. If anyone thinks they may be related, be sure to email us and we would love to hear more from you.

Was a widower when he married Martha or Elizabeth Shoesmith in 1846 in Middleton England. Children born in England were Squire 1846, Smith 1848. Further children born in Australia were Clara, James, Elizabeth, James 2, and Smith 2. Have info of Bradbury in Australia that I would like to share. Please help as George is my brickwall!!! George’s parents were James Bradbury and Betty Cousen married 29 sept 1816 St Leonards Middleton and Jude Shoesmith and Matty Kenyon married same place 1 july 1794. Martha had at least 2 siblings,. Arch baptised St Leonards 25 oct 1807 and John baptised same place 11 march 1810.

Hi all, I am the great grandson of Betram Walter Bradbury, who emigrated from Shropshire England to Hong Kong in 1903, I cant recall the name of his wife at this time but have this information in a book of our family tree. In moving to Hong Kong Bertram Walter Bradbury (Bertie) made a fortune in property and printing and to this day has a huge philanthropic trust which donates large sums of money to works in England and Hong Kong, many churches Schools, hospitals and hospices have been named Bradbury School, Hospital etc to this day my mother is involved in the Bradbury Trusts chartible works. Bertie had a colourful life, and 2 daughters my Grandmother Violet who married Sydney Fowler of Hong Kong (and had 2 sons, my father John Fowler and my uncle Michael Fowler) and Joan Ursula Bradbury, who married Anthony Weller,(and had 3 daughters) who now resides in Naples Florida, alas both sisters are dead and the name Bradbury has been lost. Bertie was a houshold name in Hong Kong at his death having been imprisoned in Staney Prizon in Hong KOng during the war, by the Japanese, he skinned the last Tiger in Hong Kong and had the 1st television the colony had ever seen. His family still live in Shropshire and my family are still in close touch with various members of the colourful Hong Kong side of the Bradbury family. If anyone needs links to these family members or the ones in Shropshire let me know.

Hi. I am just starting to trace my husbands family tree and am glad I found this site. Hopefully someone out there will be able to give me any info. My husbands grandfather was George Bradbury and he was born around 1885. He came from Cradley Heath and married Elizabeth Harris of Little Hill, Cradley. There is only one remaining Bradbury (aunt Myra) who does not know much about this side of the family except that George's father was named John and his mother was named Elizabeth. My Grandmother's name was Annie Bradbury and she came to the US in the early 1900's. Her mother was Eliza Travis Bowcock does any Bradbury out there have a connection. She was from Oldham.

I am looking for information on William Bradbury who was transported to Australia as a convict in either the late 1700’s or early 1800’s and settled and prospered in the Campbelltown area of Sydney NSW, where he married Catherine Akers/Acres on April 9th 1836. He died June 10th 1836 aged 67 and was buried in St Peters Anglican Church, Campbelltown NSW. In particular I’m interested in his life (parents, siblings, birthplace etc.,) in England before coming to Australia, the only information I have is that he had a wife in a workhouse in Hammersmith, England whom he sent money to and a daughter Mary, whom he was able to have sent out to him and that he may have been born 1774 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England… however, that birth date doesn’t match with the age on his headstone. Most of the families were buried in Maine and Massachusetts and there are a lot of families that are current living in Maine (mostly, Augusta, Maine).

Hello Bradbury's. I am a descendant of Stephen Decatur Bradbury b: 4/22/1859 d:1/1/1904 married Anna Verdier. Had 4 children George P., Viola Gertrude, Ralph,and Raymond Verdier. Raymond was my grandfather. Looking for info up the ancestrial line as to Stephen's father and mother. I think their names were Stephen Decatur Bradbury b: 1831 and Caroline F. Hamilton. and then I'm at a dead end. All my Bradburys were located in Pennsylvania from what I understand. Stephen(1831) was born in Pennsylvania - his parents were from England. Any ideas?

Re Bradbury pound notes currently there are ten shilling and pound notes up for grabs on ebay. Not many can say money has their family name on it

BRADBERRY/BRADBURY Y CHROMOSONE MARKERS. I have participated in a DNA study (sponsored by the National Geographic Society)which compares various "markers" in the Y chromosone, which is passed strictly from father to son. I think of it (crudely) as a paternity test going back many, many generations. The purpose of the study is to trace early human migration patterns over thousands of years. Based on a test of 12 markers, my paternal line is, with a very high probability, Nordic. This was a bit of a surprise to me, since the earliest paternal line ancestor I can prove is John Bradberry (or Bradbury - he was illiterate) b. 1810 in Virginia. Also, family stories suggest that John's forbears came to America from (probably) Yorkshire. However, after some thought I realized that there was a close connection (not always friendly) between the Norse Vikings and the northern British Isles. So it seems that at least one line of the Bradberry/Bradbury clan may descend from Norsemen. I would appreciate any comments.

I am new to this site finding it very interesting. As I don't have any Bradbury relations other than my immediate family it's great to see so many of you out there. Would anyone out there have information about my grandfather Walter Bradbury. I believe he was an englishman possibly a soldier working in New South Wales Australia around 1928

I know nothing about the origin of my Bradbury name except what my father used to tell me and that was that our ancestors came from England through Maine. His name was Robert Bruce Bradbury, his father's name was Bruce Bradbury although I'm not sure what his father's name was, I know that his mother's maiden name was McBride. My family has been in Northern California for years. If anyone is related to these names let me know. I'm sure it's a longshot but you never know.

My grandmother was Emily Bradbury (married to Arthur Muschamp of Lancashire). Emily and Arthur spent almost their entire married life in or near Ilkley, Yorkshire, UK - but I am searching for ancestors of Emily....William and Mary LIGHTFOOT, possibly of Northallerton, Yorkshire and possibly living in the 19th Century. Virginia.I have a copy of thier mariage license but no information on Mark's parents. Mark shows up on the 1820 census of Henry county.I know of one son,George b.cia 1820. Does anyone know anything about brothers and sisters or Mark's parents. Will be glad to share what I have.

Hello to all the Bradbury's out there. I posted a note trying to find out if any of my fathers relatives are still alive and well. I have found a little more information about my dad and his siblings etc. If any body out there can help me, this is the information I have to date:- My father is Victor Alan Bradbury DOB= 23:06:1923. He had two older sisters 1) Eunice who was 5years older than him and is deceased 2) Dorothy who was 2 years older than my dad. I don't know if Dorothy is alive or deceased. There parents are I believe to be named Victor William Bradbury who married Sylvini Dorothy Edenborough - I'm not sure if this is the correct spelling or the right name. I'm trying to trace the parents of John Bradbury, born 1807 in Pateley Bridge, N. Yorkshire. He moved to Holbeck Leeds and was a Pattern Maker for an Iron Foundary in the 1861 census, married to Mary born 1809 in Holbeck, with children Susannah b 1843, William b. 1837 (my G G Grandad & Iron Moulder), John b 1848, and Elizabeth Varey b 1835(married to William Varey). I'm not sure when he moved from Pately to Leeds, but assume it was around 1830.

Since the surname "Bradbury" means a fort made of boards or planks, can one say that the Bradburys are people who have courage, strength, and fortitude?

I posted below some information from a Bradbury website that tracks my ancestry back to Charlemagne and other French kings.

I was watching the NBC dateline show about the Da Vinci Code the other night and its story line that Jesus and Mary Magdalen were married and in fact had a daughter named Sarah who was born after Jesus' death.

The linked website confirms that a Sarah who was more likely MM's servant and not her daughter did marry into the line of French Kings with the names Pepin The Short, Charlemagne, Charles Martel, etc.. These names are the same in both websites.

It was interesting to me that IF this Sarah was indeed the daughter of Jesus and MM then many Bradbury's today are descendants of Jesus. The only problem is that there seems to be no proof that this Sarah was the daughter of MM.

There does seem to be some unconclusive evidence, that MM may have been the beloved/unidentified disciple in the Bible and that the branch of the Catholic church that ended up in control in Rome decided that a woman leading the first followers of Jesus was not something the male hierarchy chose to tolerate.

Hello to all the Bradbury's out there. Would anynone out there know of Bradbury's from the Digby Nova Scotia area. My father in law was from this area. His fathers name was Wilfred Bradbury and his wife's name was Hazel. They had 6 children , Wilfred,Leigh,Reg,Lloyd,Marguerite and Max. Hi, what a great website. It's good to know there are many bradbury's out there and even better that we get to know who & where we are. I am also interested in my past. My father was Warren, Laurence, Fredrick Bradbury born Australia and his father was Gordon Bradbury (born somewhere in England) who lived in Belmore some 30 years ago. Would like to trace further back to see origins.

Here's a tale for all those just starting to search their ancestors; always verify your family's information told to you. I posted a message earlier this year after I searched some Bradbury members based on my father's information; it turned out to be 10 years out & hence, I had the wrong ancestors found!

HELLO from the "City of Champions". The Bradbury's are dwindling here.Some has been excommunicated. Others are waiting. In the meantime we keep watching sports and talk about all the champions here. Not only in sports but everything,including "Kalan Porter"-Canadian Idol, who only lives about 50 miles from the centre of this victorious City. We also have lots to do here and we have been dubed the most beautiful City in Canada. Where I live there are Parks all around me and the only boreal forest north of the 60th parrallel. It is absolutely beautiful,;also where my mother was raised in Saskatchewan,"Melville",to be exact; they are the funniest people on the Planet. Some of the jokes she told were so subtle and if you wern't really paying attention-but, subconsiosly though it's really hard to forget.For example: How can you tell where a scottish person lives? answer: Just look for the toilet paper hanging on the clothes line. My Grandfather "Arthur T. Bradbury",he would have loved that joke. By the way my Grandfather Owned and Operated the first POWER Plant in "Edberg/Alberta" called D E L C O and I can't find that info-anywhere except in a book called "MEMOIRS OF THE EDBERG PIONEERS". THAT book pub.1955 was my grandparents own words(diary) shhhh.....dun'tell anybody. Also Richard and Jim Bradbury gave me a tiny little article - from the Uof A, that had our Coat of Arms and some other references. Ancestry.com mentioned a Thomas Jefferson Bradbury and I think they were TRYing to be funny, because the first thing I did was laugh. If it is true and I highly doubt it,because of the very GREY areas of his life and lots of people named their offspring after the" man", please Ancestry.com don't send me on a wild Goose Chase-I havn't the time or resources to do all that AND don't tell me thousands of people spend thousands of dollars searching their family roots. Opps I said "ROOTS"- I didn't mean that...some American-heard that. Please when someone speaks to me I am very educated,and, we have some of the most Educated people here in "Edmonton/Alberta"/Canada.... Don't even TRY to pull the Wool over my eyes. Hello to all the Bradbury's out there. I am looking for any information on Walter Bradbury (and those before him)who came out to Sydney around 1836 as an infant. He married Mary Seabrooke in 1870 in NSW. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

1) I and many other Bradbury’s are descended from the famous French King Charlemagne (4th generation). Less flattering is the fact that Charlemagne's great, great grandfather and my earliest known ancestor was Pepin d’Heristal. His concubine, Alpaide, had a son Duke Charles Martel. This started the line from which I am descended. So there you have it, a somewhat questionable ancestry to be sure.

2) My first American ancestor Thomas Bradbury (33rd generation) was born in Wicken Bonant England on February 28,1610. He moved to York, Maine in 1634 and settled in Salisbury, Massachusetts.

3) Thomas' wife Mary Perkins Bradbury was found guilty of being a witch at the famous Salem Witchcraft trials in 1692 at age 80. Her four codefendant witches were hung in Sept 1692, but Mary was spared for reasons unknown. Mary was found guilty of 'bewitching' (literally apparently) John Carr. Mary allegedly changed herself into a 'blue boar' (this was the witchcraft part). The blue boar then charged John Carr's horse, which caused it to stumble, as he and his brother William rode on horseback by the Bradbury house at noon on a Sunday afternoon. William testified that the blue boar then suddenly disappeared. All of this must have been quite a frightening experience, as shortly thereafter John Carr evidently went crazy and died. William testified that his father George and Thomas Bradbury had had some 'difference' thirteen years earlier, which evidently caused Mary to transform herself into this blue boar and then to charge the horses. She was convicted of being a witch, in spite of the testimony of 118 friends, her husband Thomas, and Reverend James Allen that she was a woman of God and definitely not a witch.

4) One of my distant cousins Elizabeth Beth Virginia Wallace (43rd generation) married Harry Truman, a former President of the United States.

5) I am related to the famous science fiction author Raymond Douglas 'Ray' Bradbury (42nd generation) whose great, great, great grandfather Samuel (37th generation) born in 1760 was also my (43rd generation) great, great, great, great grandfather.

6) I am also related to Ralph Waldo Emerson (39th generation) who descended from the original American Thomas (33rd generation).

Charlemagne (born in 747, died in 814) was also known as Charles I, King of the Franks and Emperor of the West, Charles the Great, King of France (768-814). He was Holy Roman Emperor in 800. His son Pepin became the King of Italy.

Charlemagne's grandfather (Duke Charles Martel, The Hammerer) defeated the Moslems who were led by Saracens at the battle of Tours in 732. This victory was very critical to future history of Europe as summarized below:

I am looking for any of my fathers family that may still be alive. His name is Victor Alan Bradbury. He passed away in 1980. He had a sister called Eunice and Dorothy. I am unsure if he had any other siblings as I was very young when he passed away. I am his only daughter to Gloria Bradbury and he has a son Carl Victor Bradbury. Hello - I continue my search for information on the Frances E. Bradbury family, originally from Maine. Frances left Maine and went to Minnesota, where she was married in 1852. I am hoping to connect with other Bradbury's from that area of Minnesota. Another Bradbury, Eben(Ebenezer?) was also married in 1852 in Ramsy County, Minneosta - very close to Frances' marriage. I have just found out that my great grandparents John(Jack) and Alice Bradbury ran a corner store somewhere in England around 1930?. I have two different photos of it.
